After having lived overseas for many years our clients came back home to Michigan to retire. Their worldwide travel instilled in them a love of simple, minimalist design. The existing primary bathroom was modest in size but the layout was awkward and didn't make sense for how they wanted to use the space. In addition, they wanted to make sure that aging-in-place design strategies were incorporated into the design.
The existing bathroom had one vanity in the bathroom and another sink vanity located outside the bathroom in the primary closet. This wasn't functional for our clients. Our Design Team saw the potential to reconfigure the layout and make it function better for the client's needs. Key design drivers:
By a cleaver use of the space previously taken up by the vanity in the closet, our design team was able to create a separate water closet. Light, clean and simple selections and finishes were used to open up the space and make it feel larger. A Solar Tunnel was placed in the shower ceiling to grab loads of natural light even on gray winter days.
Our clients brought their vision for a quiet retreat to enjoy the beauty of their private forested lot to Meadowlark. Using simple lines, natural finishes and minimalist design strategies we helped them bring their vision to life.
