Meadowlark built this custom home for our clients 10 years ago. As their kids have grown and they have settled into the wonderful west-side neighborhood, they yearned for a space that would allow them to enjoy the serene surrounding yard - without having to worry about the bugs.
This Modular custom home was built by Meadowlark 10 years ago. The clients were passionate about sustainability and thus this home has been certified LEED Platinum by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

The existing home's structure reflected the clients love of the Arts and Crafts design style. However, for this addition they wanted a more modern twist that paid homage to the original home's aesthetic, but was also simpler and more functional. In addition, both clients are now working from home so having a separate space to work during at least 3 seasons of the year was important.
Key design drivers:
Working with the current structure and lot limitations our designers created two separate areas in the enclosed screened area. The new raised addition also provided cover for the outdoor patio area below. The sloped yard and well-thought landscaping provided privacy and the perfect backdrop to the indoor/outdoor areas.

Our clients brought their vision for additional outdoor space to life with this collaborative design-build process. The addition melds seamlessly into the existing home and looks like it was original. A clever mixing of angles and rooflines adds interest and creates the perfect indoor and outdoor spaces this family was hoping for. They now can enjoy this serene tree-lined setting nestled in the heart of one of Ann Arbor's oldest neighborhoods.
