It’s All About Curb Appeal!

Exterior Facelifts We Love – Chapter 1

Our designers are well-known for their out-of-the-box thinking to create amazing transformations for our remodeling projects – so many beautiful and inspiring stories that I hardly know where to begin! In an effort to cull down my choices I decided to focus on exterior projects. And in all honesty…these are some of the most fun to show off. Here is one of my favorites.

I live in the Water Hill Area of Ann Arbor and I have been spending a lot of time walking around the hills of Water Hill to get my exercise. One of our projects that I pass almost every day is one that we did in two phases. Phase I, completed in 2016, was an exterior facelift that was driven by the need to replace rotting exterior cladding and to add a useable front porch. HardiePlank Lap Siding was used for the new siding which is not only beautiful, but durable and easy to maintain. And the front porch…well what can I say other than it’s amazing!

For Phase II the clients were looking to renovate their kitchen to add storage and function. They also wanted direct access from the garage into the home with a mudroom (a welcomed addition for our Michigan winters!). Meadowlark Designer Jimmy Bevilacqua worked his magic and came up with a truly unique design solution that checked off all their wants and needs and added square footage to their garage and kitchen. The addition of another door from the garage to their backyard also created a pretty sweet set up for great backyard tailgating parties. This was just completed this year.

Here is what the home looked like when our clients purchased it in 2012.

A craftsman style home before an exterior facelift was completed

By extending the garage forward it created a new garage bay with direct access into the home and the opportunity to extend the kitchen area and add a much-needed mudroom. The existing garage space is still there…just accessed through what is now a single-car garage area in front of it.

This home makes me happy every time I walk by it…and not going to lie…I covet that front porch! You can learn more about this two-phased remodel and addition in our client story - A Captivating Cape Cod Transformation.

Stay tuned for future facelifts in upcoming blogs.
