Forest Green Home

Aging in Place-inspired contemporary ranch

This contemporary ranch reflects the serene, forest-like setting overlooking Fleming Creek in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Pocket doors create room separation in this contemporary ranch home by Meadowlark

The Project

The homeowners, a couple with children out of college, wanted a comfortable, energy-efficient home where they could age in place and enjoy the beauty of their surroundings. Meadowlark designed the home to maximize the views and bring in an abundance of natural light. State-of-the-art building envelope techniques maximize both the structural integrity and thermal performance of the home.

The home was built based on Aging in Place design strategies and features blocking for future support accessories, one story living with flush threshold passageways and low maintenance materials. White oak, polished concrete, smooth tile and marmoleum flooring were used to facilitate future mobility.
