We're excited to share that Forbes recently featured Meadowlark Design+Build in its roundup of luxury pool design trends for 2026. Design Director Jen Hinesman spoke with Forbes contributor Terri Williams about how the best pool designs go beyond the water itself.
Jen shared a recent Meadowlark project that took a holistic approach to outdoor living: "The design paired a luxury pool with a detached sunroom, pergola-covered gathering space, outdoor entertaining areas, and thoughtfully connected circulation paths."
Rather than making the pool the single destination, the project creates several, so homeowners can enjoy the outdoors in different ways throughout the seasons.
As Jen put it, "A beautiful pool attracts attention, but it's the surrounding spaces that determine whether a backyard becomes part of everyday living."
Jen also spoke to the value of a screened porch in a poolside setting, noting that it "extends both the usability and comfort of the outdoor living space, providing a protected retreat from insects, intense sun, or an unexpected summer shower, while maintaining a strong connection to the surrounding landscape" — whether that's for morning coffee, keeping an eye on kids in the pool, or unwinding after a swim.
