The Behind the Drywall Tour – Metamorphosis of a Man Cave
July 28, 2016 - July 30, 2016
Although set on 51 acres of pristine land minutes from downtown Ann Arbor, this 1981 barn-like home had few redeeming qualities. The house was a drafty box with lots of brown siding and shingles, little insulation, and sub-standard construction – perfect for a man cave but far from perfect for a growing family.
The owners came to Meadowlark for a sleeker, more modern home design. They also wanted to take full advantage of the property’s southern vistas and let the outdoors in. Comfort, resource-efficiency, excellent air quality and durability were also high on their list of must haves.
To achieve these goals, Meadowlark designed a new contemporary home using Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) by Insulspan for both wall and roof structures. This building method results in a structure that outperforms conventional stick framed construction both in axial load strength and exceptional insulating properties.
Come to the Behind The Drywall® tour to learn more about SIPs and other cutting-edge building techniques used in this spectacular new home.
