Insulating Concrete Forms (ICFs)
This building system utilizes Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) forms between which concrete is
placed. This forms a sandwich with foam as the bread and concrete as the filling, and
results in a very tight building with superior energy performance. Although great
for foundations, this is also an ideal method for building above grade. Some of the
advantages of building with ICFs include:
- High insulation values, thermal mass, and very tight construction deliver outstanding energy efficiency and comfort within the house
- Extremely durable, long-lasting construction
- High sound absorption – ICF homes are quiet and peaceful inside
- Versatility in building at competitive prices
- Little construction waste, uses local materials
Meadowlark Builders is a leading provider of ICF foundations and buildings in
Ann Arbor and Washtenaw County.
